A person’s character may be learned from the adjectives which he habitually uses in conversation.

I’ve been sitting here this Monday morning, working on processing this final image, when my 20 year old son suddenly needs a listening ear. I stop, turn, and make it a point to really listen. I only have so much time left with them before they’ve decided to leave the nest again.

And he’s got biggggg plans for his life. Plans that seem out of reach for someone like me anyway. I nod, smile, nod some more. I say, “Yes, that sounds right,” to most of it. If I have any worries about his decision making process, I try to keep quiet. Its really hard to do, so I bite my tongue, for real.

Time is fleeting, and we only have this one life to show the people we love how much we care.
